Welcome!The 2005-2006 school year is off to a grand start. It could not have been done without a whole slew of volunteers… For starters, thanks to our Principal Pat Turner and the two most indispensable staff members at the school, Barbara Horikoshi and Karen Bean for working tirelessly, tending to all the major and minor details to insure that “Camp Bollinger” was up and running for the 1st day of school. Thanks to Timberly Enders and her volunteers for a smooth registration. Thanks to Sue Friedman and her crew for spending hours and hours in the sun last weekend planting, weeding, mulching and doing whatever to took to beautify our school. Thanks to Bridgette Percivalle for the hours and hours she has spent building our website. Thanks to Michele Rodrigue and Lynn Ashley for working with our Principal to iron out drop-off, pick-up issues. Thanks to Earlene Boyle for a great t-shirt design. Thanks to Melanie Dotson and her committee for welcoming the teachers back to school with a delicious luncheon. We hope your children came home today bubbling over with excitement about the F.A.M.E. Assembly. They were treated to an overall engaging show where they learned about Artist Leonardo da Vinci and Composer Ludwig van Beethoven. The children were thrilled and enthralled when Beethoven’s 5th Symphony boomed over the loudspeakers. They exclaimed “I know that song” when they heard Beethoven’s masterpiece “Fur Elise” played on the piano. They pondered when asked if they thought Mona Lisa was smiling in her famous portrait. F.A.M.E. is the work of many dedicated parents committed to bringing the Fine Arts back into the schools. Public funds no longer support these programs – but Bollinger Canyon parents like you do. Thanks to Ed Fund, PTA, Site Council, Mrs. Turner, the teachers and staff – and each of you for making this extremely worthwhile program a possibility for our children. |
